Peter,
This is why I started out a week ago saying that recursion is a
version 2.0 feature, not a version 1.0 feature, for lots of
very obvious business reasons.
We need buy in and we need ease of implementation to a
broad global community.
Tim Bray's criteria - that an XML parser should be easily
implementable with two to three weeks work by a
graduate student - should not be forgotten in this context.
Not to mention another criteria - do you really want to be
debugging @ 2am in the morning on a transaction with
45,000 lines in it that failed because of a recursive reference
somewhere in it??!
