Subject: ebXML-CP Teleconference Report - 11 Oct
ebXML-CP Teleconference Report Date: 11 Oct Time: 9:00 am - 10:30 am PST Agenda ====== + Catalog of Core Process & IT&C + Business Process Methodology Guidelines + Business Process Specification Template + FSV Update - Martin Bryan + Next Week Teleconference Attendees ========= Martin Bryan, Bob Haugen (briefly), Brian Hayes, Stephan de Jong, Paul Levine, Nita Sharma, Edwin Young, Dave Welsh Catalog of Core Processes & IT&C ================================ Since last meeting, Nita worked with Edwin to include International Trade & Customs processes into the Catalog of Core Processes. We reviewed updates to the Catalog. The current Catalog categorizes International Trade as a seperate group of processes. Nita raised the issue of whether or not the international trade processes should be categorized seperately or merged with similar processes. While there are specific factors and roles associated with international trade, the basic business processes are provided by business processes in the other existing categories (classifications). However, international trade is very complex and thus we may want to group the related processes together under the category of international trade. Paul mentioned that ISO is taking a constraints-based approach. Constraints are applied to the simple model/processes to further qualify the process. Dave mentioned that if we are trying to achieve a simplifed domestic and international business model, it would be helpful to model international trade across all other processes (as appropriate). Brian talked about requirements analysis in general and that one would tend to model domestic and international trade at the same time. This information would appear in the same document. In this way, managers, developers, etc., could then decide what to implement and easily remain aware of what they choose not to implement. Proposed: Merge international trade processes with the other processes. Customs and Transport processes become one or two categories (there was a vote for a single category since customs and transport are very much related). Nita to discuss further with Jim Clark and Bob Haugen before committing. Business Process Methodology Guidelines ======================================= An update to the Guidelines was released last week. Brian reported that he quickly reworked the previous version to reflect the five top level packages of the Metamodel. Need a section on Constraints. Paul suggested that the requirements section (BRV) should specify all the constraints and relationships to the use cases. The core components can be addresed in the BOV sections. Reusable constraints are candidates for attributes on a CBO (Core Business Object). As we review the guidelines and apply the Guidelines we should modify the Guidelines to reflect our experiences. All input welcomed! Business Process Specification Template ======================================= The Business Process Specification Template needs to be reworked to follow the five top level packages of the Metamodel. Next Week Teleconference - Team Training ======================================== The plan for the October 18th teleconference is to review the Metamodel Example. This needs to be confirmed with Jim Clark who would lead the walk-thru of the model. Also note that there will be a continuation of September walk-thru on October 23rd. This walk-thru will discuss the FSV portion of the Example. Next Week Agenda Items ====================== + Team Training - Review Metamodel Example New Activities ============== + Nita and team to continue work on Catalog of Core Processes + Brian to rework Business Process Specification Template Roadmap Schedule Dates ====================== 6 Oct - Business Process Specification Template - Posted to Work in Progress Pages on 5 Oct. Week of Oct 16 - Post for Review: Manage Purchase Order Business Process Specification </end>
