I second that opinion as .pdf is a poor format for diagrams of any kind.

One of the annoying aspects of OMG specs is that they include a lot of UML
diagrams, but rarely make the model available in electronic form.  So, one
of the first things you have to do is to manually
construct a model from the diagrams with all the potential for mistyping,
etc.

It would be helpful if the models behind ebXML could be published in XMI
and/or Rose .mdl format in addition to diagrams appearing in documents.
