Subject: RE: where the qualifiers went...

DW,

I am well aware of the UML model in the published docuemtation. IMO, it has
not progressed to the point that it represents a 'sound model for defining
Core Components'. Nor have I seen appreciable effect of that model in the
ongoing work effort. Rether, I see spreadsheets of 'Core Components' which
IMO do not conform even to that UML model.

I hope and believe that the EWG/X12 effort will adopt a top down approach to
Core Component design that will produce significant results by the end of
this year.

Cheers,
        Bob

>Good People,

The hanging question is when are we going to have a sound UML model for
defining Core Components?

It is difficult (and I believe counter-productive) to 'define' a core
component (e.g., 'amount') when we haven't first defined and agreed upon a
UML model.

Bob,

The information model in UML of a core component is already defined
and available in the documentation published.

DW.
