Subject: RE: [ebxml-dev] Data types

Anabel,

ebXML core components are, by design, syntax neutral. The intention is to
describe the semantics (bsuiness meaning) of a particular component in
clear, plain English terms. This is to avoid the problem (for example) that
to some people "state" means country whilst to others it means prefecture,
and to others it means county.

To actually make use of core components in a business transaction you need
an implementation of the core components in some machine readable format.
The OASIS UBL working group is doing just that via the "Universal business
Language" (UBL) XML schema project. It is still a work in progress but you
can get up to date information from the OASIS site.

Subject: [ebxml-dev] Data types

Hello everybody,

I was reading through the Core Components Technical Specification and I am
not sure I understood everything properly.

My question is: are the data types used for the Core Components W3C XML
Schema compliant? Is that a requirement? And if so, where does it say so?

Any help would be very, very much appreciated.

Have a nice day,

Anabel Argyle
