Subject: OASIS, conformance and interoperability
In today's ConCall, the fact was brought up that we require 'at least' 3 vendor implementations to demonstrate interoperability to OASIS. Interoperability has been brought up before and I've written a test harness toward supporting it, but at this point I need other vendors to interoperate with. What I'd like to ask the group is for a show of interest in targetting this kind of interoperability directly. Note that this is a seperate issue from having a conformance suite of software by which to test specification compliance; however such a suite would obviously be integral to the final framework. My motive here is to bring elevate the notion of interoperability above the demonstration of a few business process cases. It is one thing to show a system using known/predefined data for a marketing event. It is completely different matter to test it using live arbitrary data between anonymous parties. I am forming a list of vendors who are willing to place their implementation on public ports for live message exchanges. Please add the name of your company below if you are willing of contributing to in the near future (pre geneva time frame). For now this is a contact list of interested parties, not a pledged committal.
