Subject: RE: Review of thoughts on Ad Hoc Queries
Message text written by "Nieman, Scott" > I am considered about interoperability between distributed registries here. a canonical form enables distributed registries, whereas I could get back an ebXMLError stating "Query Syntax not support" from one registry instance, whereas a successful result from another. I ultimately would like to publish a query to n registry instances and get n successful results back NOT n-e where e is the number of error messages. <<<<<<<<<< He he - I'd love to never get error messages too! We will need vendor interoperability testing to get us to this point ultimately - however you approach this. (So you think Oracles, Microsofts, Suns and WebMethods OQl implementations will all be identical??!). I like the idea of having extensible query systems - so that we can right out the box have built-in future proofing. Also - notice from the Tokyo PoC - Farrukh did work hard on the TRP profile stuff - so you can query that ahead of time to see exactly what queries any given registry can do! Hey - one way to eliminate N - E is to make sure N will work before you ask it!! DW.
