Draft docs from BP/TP offsite

The attached docs are for use by attendees of BP/TP offsite,
they will not make much sense yet to people who didn't attend,
we intend to have a walk-thru of them in next Tuesday's metamodel meeting,
so attend that if you want an introduction to this material,
