The downloadable toolkit includes a sort utility, an aggregation utility, and a mapping utility to transform Unix directory hierarchies to XML. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-08-26-d.html Microsoft Announces Web Services Development Kit Technology Preview Microsoft has announced a technical preview for the Microsoft Web Services Development Kit (WSDK). The WSDK is a .NET class library for building Web services using the latest Web services protocols, including WS-Security, WS-Routing, DIME, and WS-Attachments. It provides a low-level API that allows developers apply these protocols directly to individual SOAP messages being sent using HTTP. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-08-26-c.html New Draft Specifications from MPEG-21 Multimedia Framework Project The MPEG Convenor has announced the advancement of draft specifications in the MPEG-21 multimedia framework project, which uses XML. The MPEG-21 Multimedia Description Schemes Subgroup has completed ISO Committee Drafts for MPEG-21 Part 5 'Rights Expression Language (REL)' and MPEG-21 Part 6 'Rights Data Dictionary (RDD)'. A supporting document describes IBM's Conversation Policy XML (cpXML), an XML dialect for describing conversation policies, now under development. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-08-21-b.html W3C Publishes Preview Candidate Recommendation for XForms Specification The W3C has released a pre-CR 'XForms 1.0' specification. XForms is an XML application representing the next generation of forms for the Web. Independently defining the XForms model, instance data, and user interface, XForms separates presentation from content, allows reuse, and gives strong typing, thus reducing the number of round-trips to the server. It supports device independence and reduces the need for scripting. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-08-21-a.html -------------------------------------------------------------------- Selected Articles and Papers -------------------------------------------------------------------- Selections of abstracted and annotated articles/clippings at: http://xml.coverpages.org/articles.html http://xml.coverpages.org/clippings.html IBM Multimodal Annotation Tool Supports Video and Audio Annotations for MPEG-7 Files. http://xml.coverpages.org/clippings200208.html#clip2002-08-26-a http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/multimodalannotation "XML-Signature XPath Filter 2.0."
