Yes - this is exactly what I was saying. ebXML must be independent of EDI yet still carry the <buzzwords>semantic richness</buzzwords> of EDI. At the same time, there MUST be a way to protect the investments companies have in their EDI systems. This can be accomplished by using a Bizcode type linking mechanism combined with a repository access. There is bound to be very strong feelings on both sides of the fence - those who want to completely abolish any reference to EDI and those who want to retool OO-EDI as an XML-syntax.
