Subject: Re: Ebxml, Biztalk et al
Steven Livingstone confirms that he's actually interested in both the transport layer mechanics and the big picture of ebXML. Some additional reading material for Steven will be found among the Conference Proceedings of XML Europe 2000 at http://www.gca.org/papers/xmleurope2000/. There are lots of papers, but I especially recommend "XML schema design for business-to-business e-commerce," by ebXML's own Arofan Gregory, of Commerce One, at http://www.gca.org/papers/xmleurope2000/papers/s21-01.html. Also: "Effective strategies for integrating businesses on the Net using XML," by David Burdett, also of ebXML and Commerce One, at http://www.gca.org/papers/xmleurope2000/papers/s10-01.html. The latter is mostly an ad for Commerce One and its warez (something I would do for FORESIGHT - the World's leading provider of EDI/EC productivity tools and a dominant player in the realm of Web-EC - in a far more discreet manner), but brings up interesting points, nonetheless. There are two papers on Registries & repositories, one for each of BizTalk and ebXML. The latter is co-authored by ebXML Marketing, Awareness and Education maven Simon Nicholson, of Sun. See http://www.gca.org/papers/xmleurope2000/rel/sess11.html. One of the Vertical Industries active in ebXML is the travel biz represented by the OpenTravel Alliance; see "How the OpenTravel Alliance is agreeing an XML vocabulary," by Nick Lanyon, at http://www.gca.org/papers/xmleurope2000/papers/s19-02.html.
