All,
Having a
workshop of this nature is a good idea. But, why expect people to make a
separate trip. I think it would have been much more appropriate to try to
schedule this workshop in conjunction with another meeting at which most of the
targeted participants would be, such as the August ebXML meetings. Asking
companies/individuals to incur yet another trip expense plus time out of the
office is not the most cost effective way to approach such a
workshop.

Trading Partner Agreement Markup Language (tpaML) -
Workshop July 27th & 28th http://www-4.ibm.com/software/developer/library/tpaml.html
"tpaML defines how trading partners will interact at the transport,
document exchange and business protocol layers. A TPA contains the general
contract terms and conditions, participant roles (buyers, sellers),
communication and security protocols and business processes, (valid actions,
sequencing rules, etc.). XML-based TPA documents capture the essential
information upon which trading partners must agree in order for their
applications and business processes to communicate."
Do you have issues
with the current tpaML specification?
If you are thinking that the
specification needs work, we agree and invite you to a workshop on providing
feedback to the specification and help move forward this critical cog in the
B2B machinery. Because of this, the scope of the meeting will include all
dynamic and static 'a priori type' information to facilitate transactions but
contained outside the messages themselves:
- Trading Partner Agreements (traditional - legal) -
Trading Partner Agreements (organizations, local vs global) - Trading
Partner Agreements (application specific) - Application Negotiation (see
eCo) - Application Definitions (with choreography - PIPS, protocols XMI)
- Service Level Agreements (with multi-part MIME & security) -
Service Level Agreements (outsourcing) - Service Level Agreements
(connection, leased lines) - Trading Partner Templates (XML/edi Group,
SEF, IMPDEF, etc.) - Repository Interface (logical units with
Bizcodes)
WHO should participate? Any organization that stores this
type of information and wants to be able to exchange easily this information
with other parts of the organization or trading partners. By participating in
tpaML, you assure your organization's capability to interoperate in a dynamic
paradigm and possibly reduce the some overhead of up front costs associated
with exchanges.
What is the GOAL? The goal of the workshop
is simply to further work on tpaML, to collect thoughts and ideas in making
the specification better and more complete.
"It is such short
notice; I would like to attend, but am unable, what are my options?" Of
course it is always nice to meet face to face on such technical issues,
discuss in person with Marty Sachs and Mark Colan your thoughts, but if unable
send your ideas via email to mwsachs@us.ibm.com for proper collection.
Also, for anyone unable to attend in person, there will be a conference call
set up. This information will be coming in a subsequent email. If you
would like that information directly, please send me an email.
"I am
convinced that attending is important to my organization, WHERE is the
workshop?" The workshop will take place at DISA's headquarters in
Alexandria, Va. with directions and hotel information found at:
http://www.disa.org/
DISA - Data

28th : 9:00 am until 1:00 pm
My COST? The tpaML workshop is sponsored by DISA and is
