Subject: BPML, BPQL release soon
FYI there was an interesting presentation to the Seattle XML SIG last night about BPMI. The BPML schemas will be released Thursday. The specification supports BP both internally, and obviously, between parties. It seems to support multi-party interactions by broadcasting requests, and broadcast of cancel messages by the originator upon first receipt of any refusal or rejection. Seems plausible. (www.bpmi.org) http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/010306/latu030.html If BPML/BPQL is any good, then, small lightweight clients for SMEs might emerge based on the BPML spec to provide the kind of collaborations the BSI and Xtreme ease of use were talking about. The Intalio guys said BPML is also intended to be loadable into, or supportable by, the ebXML RegRep. In any case, BPMI has a lot of interesting ideas, e.g. a) insights that might be useful in implementing canned choreographies like the OAG scenarios, or b) insights in managing your custom designed choreographies developed in scripting languages, For SMEs, a little BP goes a long way, Todd
