Subject: Re: Units of Measure
Look at http://www.unece.org/cefact/, and Pick Recommendation 20 on "Codes for Units of Measure Used in International Trade". This references ISO 31:1992 Quantities and units, as well as a few others. The proposed Petrochemical Open Systems Corp UOM approach may be helpful for deciding how to encode units of measure in XML, but that seems beyond the scope of the current CC work. I also would be hesitant about using the abbreviations and other features where they conflict with CC naming conventions or Recommendation 20. A question, was this proposal developed with knowledge of ISO 31 or UN/ECE Recommendation 20? -- Michael C. Rawlins, Rawlins EC Consulting www.rawlinsecconsulting.com
