Are there standards for data content passed between ebXML partners?

If I receive an XML Purchase Order specifying "UPS BROWN", when our ERP uses
"UPS Ground", is it our responsibility to convert their label to fit our
data content, or is it the partner's responsibility to provide our label?  

I'd like to avoid setting-up and maintaining customer profiles in our
system. ...at least minimize the amount of data conversions for each
customer.  Has anyone found standards for common data content, or standards
for 'who' is responsible for 'what' data that passes between systems?
