I am confused with the pattern attribute in <BinaryCollaboration> element.

I know that the pattern attribute in <BusinessTransaction> implies choosing one of
the six patterns as defined by the UMM documentation viz BusinessTransaction,
Request/Response, Request/Confirm, Query/Response, Notification, Information
Distribution

I am wondering what does the pattern attribute in <BinaryCollaboration> element
stand for.
Is this pattern same as the simple e-commerce pattern described in ebPATT?

Any explanation or pointers would be helpful.
