Subject: Re: [ebxml-dev] OMG/OASIS/HRXML etc. Interop Conference OrlandoJun27+28

Mike:

I was there at the Dec conference as were Karl Best and others from
OASIS and UN/CEFACT. ebXML was well represented however, I was
personally quite dismayed at the treatment ebXML got. Whe the goals of
"interoperability" were discussed during the open plenary, I personally
stated that ebXML had the same set of drivers and suggested that rather
than start off again, they shoudl throw their weight behind ebXML.
Rather than agree to this, they started to re-invent and re-discover a
lot fo ground ebXML has already covered.

The main irony arose from their identification of "Not invented here" as
a major barrier to overcome for interoperability.

I think that via the good folks at OASIS, ebXML will be well
represented. I openly encourage the group to toss their effort behind
ebXML rather than re-inventing what we have already done.

I would like to hear an official comment on stature from the organizaers
of this group as to why they don;t want to wokr with ebXML. ebXML is
the infrastructure that can allow interoperability between disparate
standards.
