Subject: re: ebXML-RosettaNet Link in Korea

Carol,

This may just be a question of better facilitation here.

Companies like Gridnode already have dual capabilities
for RosettaNet and ebXML communications in their
products, and that's just one company.

Also - the ebMS is more sophisiticated than the original
RosettaNet messaging - but obviously you could use
just a subset to ensure compatiblity across.

My sense is that the Korean Govt just needs to publish
a 'Guidelines' White Paper here - to cover off deploying
both alongside each other - and give people the
migration plan too. They could get help from vendors
to facilitate that.

Also - at the level of payloads - the OASIS CAM system
provides the means to bridge between RNIF and CCTS
and the Rosettanet dictionary and ebXML Registry and
UIDs.

I've just started work on some RosettaNet message
layouts in CAM, and folks at NIST are assisting with this,
so we will have those available soon.

Thanks, DW.

Subject: Re: [ebxml-mktg-sc] [Fwd: Fwd: Korean Govt to Set Up
ebXML-RosettaNet Link]

Carol,

I compared the content of news article you sent (English) and the original
article written in Korean language. Basically, they are same. So, what
you read in the article is what was decided.
Korea Minstry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE), KIEC and Rosettanet
Korea recently had a joint meeting and discussed about the interoperability
between ebXML and Rosettanet.
The target layer for linking is between ebMS and RNIF. The mechanism for
linking the two is the development of adapter.
They agreed to the necessity of developing the adapter. But, they have not
yet secured the resources (budget).
So, at this stage, they (MOCIE, KIEC, and Rosettanet Korea) reached to a
consensus for the necessity to link ebXML and Rosettanet. In the future,
they have to set detail plans, secure resource (budget), and launch an
appropriate project.

Regarding the meeting with the Korean Press, it is not confirmed yet. I
will confirm it to you by tomorrow. Also, I will send you draft meeting
program for OASIS-KIEC meeting on 2 June.
The editor who wrote the below news article will be present either in
OASIS-KIEC meeting or in the interview to be arranged by ECIF on Tuesday
noon.
I will write again tomorrow and provide more concrete information on the
issues.
