Subject: RE: ebXML Registry and Repository Part 1: Business Domain Specificati onReleased for First Comment Period
1) Thank you for the observation, and yes, you are correct in that a corporation could have their own registry and repository. We are promoting and requiring a network of registries and repositories as that is the only architecture that will scale over the Internet. I am still thinking in my mind about the specializations under RA, and whether the RA may actually inherit from the Corporation instead, and that there may be another way to show a corporation that is NOT an RA that represents the business needs within a vertical domain (for example). I do not believe inheriting from the RA is the best since this is not necessarily to show role based security, but inheritance of legal and policy issues. It would be nice to show optional cardinality on inheritance in Rose as that would simplify things. Speaking of the corporation's registry and repository, it does seem that the corporation's registry may need to be registered somewhere, and that John Petit's concept of a "registry of registries" becomes more important in that context. I don't think it is necessary to show that in the actor hierarchy though. Thoughts? 2) I posted the latest X3.285 mdl version I had on my computer to the ebXML site. Try this link to download: http://www.ebxml.org/working/project_teams/registry/x3_285_registry_3d_Propo sal_19991015.mdl Regards, Scott -----Original Message----- From: LITTRE Jacques [mailto:jacques.littre@swift.com] Sent: Monday, May 22, 2000 4:47 AM To: Nieman, Scott Cc: Eric Dubois; Kris Ketels; Frank Vandamme; John Neve; ebxml-regrep@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: Re: ebXML Registry and Repository Part 1: Business Domain Specificati onReleased for First Comment Period Importance: High Dear Scott, 1 - I have reviewed the document in reference and I would like to have a clarification from you on the Section 2 Figure 2 about the Actors relationship diagram and more specifically about the "Corporation" actor. According to the diagram, there is no way a Corporation could become a Registration Authority (RA) whilst I thought (and Eric confirmed it to me) that the ebXML Registry and Repository was to be a distributed system with I guess local RA's. In that case, we should assume that Corporation may have an RA role and therefore should inherit from the RA actor in the diagram. Am I correct or on the contrary should we understand that there is one single central RA with distributed registries and repositories or moreover with a central registry and repository ? 2 - Could you please send me a copy of the X.285 Specs if you have one (I have not been able to get one from the various links on the regrep sites). Thanks in advance. Looking forward to your answer.
