Subject: RE: A DBA perspective.
I tried to make this point in Tokyo with insufficient clarity. With all of the good work done, the focus has been on the Information model as a unit, but the *only thing of importance* is specifying the Interface in context of that information model. Does anyone know if there been any proof-of-concept specifically of the OASIS 1.1 spec? It suddenly occurred to me - I guess becuase of the sense that we need to ensure that everything is absolutely exactly correct - we've been getting down into a lot of details lately. This in part has been triggered by the work OASIS has done to date - and of course they have had longer to work on it - so details will out! Anyway - its a good sanity check to realize that sometimes it pays to 'let go' of the lowlevel stuff and focus higher up in the API functionality. Ain't easy for a bunch of techie engineers for whom 'show me the code' is a mantra! Appreciate the thought. Thanks, DW.
