Subject: OASIS memberships for ebXML participants
ebXML Participants: As you may be aware, work on ebXML will continue as a coordinated activity between members of UN/CEFACT and OASIS. As announced at the Vienna ebXML meeting, ongoing maintenance of ebXML infrastructure (messaging, registry/repository, security and collaborative partners work) will be conducted within the OASIS technical process because of the Consortium's expertise in XML standards development, and ongoing maintenance of ebXML business content (core components and messages, and business process models) will be continued within UN/CEFACT because of its experience in UN/EDIFACT EDI standards. Participation in OASIS technical activities requires that the person be an OASIS member, either through their employer or individually. While many ebXML participants are employees of OASIS member organizations, many are not. So to allow active ebXML participants to continue their work within OASIS, the Consortium is offering a free one-year Individual OASIS memberships to any ebXML participant who attended at least two of the last three ebXML meetings (Tokyo, Vancouver or Vienna) and who is not already an employee of an OASIS member organization. To obtain this free membership, you must sign up at http://www.oasis-open.org/join/ebxml.shtml before 30 June 2001. Note that you must sign up for OASIS membership to become eligible to participate in OASIS technical committees. If you did not attend two of the last three ebXML meetings you can still participate in ebXML infrastructure work by joining OASIS. Individual memberships are 250 USD per year. With an Individual OASIS membership, a person can participate in any/all of the OASIS technical committees--not just ebXML. The membership is non-transferrable. Contributor and Sponsor memberships are also available for organizations. For organizations that want to have multiple employees participate in OASIS technical work, at least a Contributor level membership is required. For organizations that also want to take advantage of OASIS promotional benefits (being featured in press releases, on the OASIS website, etc.) a Sponsor level membership is required. For any of these membership levels, please see http://www.oasis-open.org/join/index.shtml for more information and an online application. Please contact me if you have any questions on OASIS technical committees, our technical process or our plans for future ebXML work. Contact Scott McGrath, the OASIS Member Services Manager (scott.mcgrath@oasis-open.org) with any questions on OASIS membership. We look forward to advancing the ebXML infrastructure work with all of you. </karl> ================================================================= Karl F.
