Subject: Clarfication regarding ReceiptAcknowledgments
Section 6.6.2 describes in general that responding role signals exception to requesting role and terminate. Requesting role can use a notification of failure to indicate exception to responder role. In the event of a missing receipt acknowledgement from the requesting role arising from the receipt of a responding document, how should the responding role signal an exception to the requesting role? Are we assuming that the MSH on the resquesting role would detect a failure to deliver the receipt and send a notification of failure to the responder role? Similarly, is it the intention of the spec that NRR does not apply in this situation? It seems to me that the responding role should also save a signed copy of the receipt acknowledgement from the requesting role that it has received the responding document. Can you please clarify the above or if this has been addressed, please point me to the appropriate locations. Thanks Michael Sybase eBD
