I sent email to Simon the evening before the two-day marketing
meeting, but due to some kind of mail problem, he was unable to
get anything for the entire two days.

I'm sorry I depended on mail for this.  I didn't used to be so
trusting, but in recent years, I've started to take it for
granted.
