Many companies conduct EDI transactions over secure Internet connections with standard protocols. I assume that the VAN is not the only reason the customer does not want to use EDI. The customer's desired solution can be accomplished using a variety of COTS packages in a fairly straightforward manner. Shoot me an email if you need specifics. Thanks!
