Subject: RE: [ebxml-dev] WS-I
Teho, Interesting you mention ebXML ... At a recent Web Services Conference (San Francisco 2 weeks ago) where Microsoft, SUN, IBM, lots of other software company's, and a significant body of the venture capital community came together - it was clearly identified that Web Services today is still a first generation 'technology release' and the real business value proposition of Web Services is yet to be identified although it's probably going to be the business community itself that will unlock the service value of future Web Services. (If anything, Iona was also clearly a front runner in the Web Services technology space.) To that effect, the ebXML (eBTWG) Business Process teams have identified the "how to .." capability to put a company's "business objectives" onto technology, **including** new web services BUT using conventional business concepts used by business today !! Here's a link http://homepage.interaccess.com/~linkage/COOL.ppt to a Powerpoint presentation that show's how company's in the future can put their business (process) commitments (objectives) back into the "technology" to drive the benefits from technology in managing the business; and this is the type of 'stuff' that's forming the new global ebXML standards. (I have more info on this if you're interested) All the best -Dave Welsh > -----Original Message----- > From: Lee, Teho [mailto:tlee@iona.com] > Sent: Monday, February 11, 2002 1:42 PM > To: mike@rawlinsecconsulting.com; ebxml-dev@lists.ebxml.org > Subject: RE: [ebxml-dev] WS-I > > > Microsoft .NET combined with its Global XML Web > Services(WS-Inspection, > WS-License, WS-Routing...) is pushing the recently heating-up baseline > web services(SOAP,UDDI,WSDL) to its ultimate use.
