[ebxml-dev] ebXML Message Polling Mechanism

Does anyone know if ebXML supports a pull mechanism in terms of polling for messages rather than pushing messages to their intended recipients? 
We are a 3rd party and are faced with the task of having to deliver messages to customers who have security concerns and do not want to allow direct push of messages through their firewall.
