Sorry Gene, but your point was a bit too obscure for me.  To clarify, I 
think that there's a direct relationship between standardization and 
interoperability.  However, I'm not sure I agree with you about it never 
being completed.  At some point it may not necessarily be "complete" but it 
has to be "good enough".  How else can you account for TCP/IP and SMTP that 
even allow us to carry on this discussion?  I think that "good enough" is a 
reasonable goal for ebXML and similar efforts.  I just don't see it as 
quite being there yet...
