Subject: RE: upcoming POC work?

I thought the plan was to store business models, I think in UML, in the
repository. Then users of the system would 'query' against those models
to determine if their business process was already in the repositoty.
The model would be 'connected' to the corresponding Core Components
DTD or schema) if the user found a match. In this way, we would avoid
the proliferation of varying formats for the same business process.

Without this ability, I don't see how we don't just become a place for
anyone to store anything. And SMEs will end up in the same position that
larger traditional EDI users are today: being forced to handle many
different versions of the exact same business information.

For example, when I worked for a large steel company, we implemented
about seventy different versions of the X12 Ship Notice. Since our
product was the same in all these cases, it is unlikely that more than
a handful of variation was actually required by the business information
requirements. I don't see any way to avoid this with XML unless we have a
way to screen new submissions against existing models.

Hi,
From my limited knowledge, the ad hoc query will be against the
various
documents in the registry. Are you talking about a biz model to perform the
query or the query against business models ?

	cheers

I trust that the ad hoc query would somehow be against a business
process model. Is that correct?

Hi,

In Tokyo, the regrep team has prioritized the capabilities into
various
buckets. Ad Hoc Query is in Phase 1 scope and so we will show Ad Hoc query
in Vancouver. From what I know, the pub-sub is not in Phase 1 and so will
not be in Vancouver.

	cheers

Scott/Farrukh, can we get that prioritized list of features ?

Mark,

Based on Reg/Rep team discussions in Tokyo, should we also assume that the
following will be targeted for POC in Vancouver?
	Reg/Rep - Ad Hoc query
	Reg/Rep - Publish and Subscribe
Thanks,
Joel Munter

Dain,

Thank you for the interest and welcome. At this time, the POC is collecting
topics for the Vancouver demonstration. The discussions to date included
things such as:

	Security
	Reliable Messaging
	Business Processes/Core Components
	International Trading
	Marketplaces
	Multiple Transports

We hope to have a list by the first week of December so we can begin to
narrow down the list. Please feel free to add topics (by posting to this
list) that are representative of new specification functionality.

	Thanks,

	Mark
