Subject: Re: Draft basic requirements statement
Mark, Thanks. I think this is basically acceptable as an overall, basic requirements statement. I would add a few improvements though. I tend to be overly verbose myself sometimes, but would like to pare down this statement just a bit. I would omit "XML enabled databases" as being too detailed. I don't see databases making much sense without business applications which use them, and see them as a subset of applications. I would also change "XML applications" to "XML enabled business applications". The sentence could be simplified as: This single set of XML standards should focus on interoperability between XML enabled business applications, and between users of XML enabled generic end user utilities and XML enabled business applications. > This single set of XML standards should, where > efficiency is not impacted, and to the extent practicable, provide for a > transition path from existing EDI and XML business standards. > > Mark > Mark Crawford > Research Fellow > ______ > LMI Logistics Management Institute > 2000 Corporate Ridge, McLean, VA 22102-7805 > (703) 917-7177 Fax (703) 917-7518 > mcrawfor@lmi.org > http://www.lmi.org > "Opportunity is what you make of it" -- Michael C.
