Marty,

Actually, this was discussed in Vancouver. Even in the event that the
transport protocol does not support synchronous behaviour,
such as SMTP, the value of syncReplyMode could still apply
from the perspective of the actual construction of the message.

A DeliveryChannel/Characteristics element that
identifies a Transport that has no syncronous capabilities
(such as SMTP) which also has a syncReplyMode attribute with a
value other than "None" will respond with a message that
contains the same content as if the Transport identified
did support synchronous messaging (such as HTTP).
