Hi Martin, No, that concept has not gone by the wayside. Syntax-neutral core components can be used for X12 or EDIFACT or XML or YAML or even flat files. Wearing my X12 hat, the one I've worn for many years, I assure you that what we are designing will work for all formats. This presumed that there would be some sort of record in the registry of which EDI segment/data element each CC message component was derived from. It is also presumed that for a given existing EDI message there will be an ebXML equivalent. This concept seems to have gone by the board in recent months.
